A Tribute to Hand Dancing . . .

and to those Innovators and Instructors who help keep it Alive in Washington DC, like:
Hot   Lawrence "Brad" Bradford of the Smooth & EZ Dance Institute ("SEZ"). Brad, the head dance instructor, enjoys the admiration and respect of his peers and students alike, and is widely considered as one of the best dance instructors in the area. Under Brad's direction, the Institute has become one of the most popular venues for hand dance instruction. SEZ graduates include such notable instructors in their own right as Priscilla Wiley, Ron Fisher, Bunny Elam, Lawrence Williams, Tippi Mavritte, Shirley Duncan, and many others. And the Smooth & Easy Dance Troupe, in existence for more than five years, may be the most successful and recognized African American Hand Dance group in the United States. Thanks Brad!

Hot   Leroy Green. Leroy is an extremely talented and personable dance instructor, who also is widely respected by his peers and students. Green's "Dream Steppers" were the first hand dance troupe in DC. Thanks, Leroy!
(Feel free to nominate others for a salute here)

Lindy Hop, Jitterbug: Breakaway & Improv
An uptown dancer improvises an interesting move during a breakaway. His bemused partner (arms folded in the "Mr. Clean" jazz move) executes flash footwork. Frolicing thusly, she awaits the finale of his ecstatic "shine."
